IBB MUC with Maybelline Color Tattoo! #1 Look - Smokey Taupe

Hello everyone! Long time no see, hehe.. Apologies for being MIA for the last 2 weeks, I was on holiday! However, I also got really sick at the time. Boo.. :( Trust me, ‘flu’ and ‘holiday’ don’t belong in the same sentence. But still, I really enjoyed it and had the best relaxing time ever. :)

So anyway, for this post, I will try to do a look for IBB MUC September 2013, the theme is “RUNWAY COLORS”!

I believe we all have had an obsession to be a supermodel, at least once in our life, hehe.. That’s why I’m so excited for this month’s challenge! As an IBB Staff, I’ve been chosen to make the sample looks for this Makeup Challenge, so here’s my first look!

My inspiration comes from one of Maybelline’s Youtube videos, here’s the screenshot:

Using the same Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe, the makeup artist gently applied the creamy eyeshadow to allover the crease, almost to the brow. After that just added some mascara (using the Rocket one, I’m curious with that one!), and it’s done! It’s all about simplicity and flawless skin!
Of course since I’m going to do that on myself, I need to take it up a notch. So I decided to make a smokey taupe look.
Using the products that Maybelline kindly sent to me, I’m so ready for my catwalk!

Here are the products.. So many! Thank you Maybelline Indonesia! ^_^

The highlight product is none other than this fabulous Maybelline Color Tattoo! Finally.. Yes, I can say finally.. It has arrived in Indonesia! Although when I checked at the counter yesterday, it’s still not available yet, but I’m sure it will be soon! The Color Tattoo is a major hit for all beauty enthusiasts around the world. I’ve seen it being raved by countless Bloggers and Youtubers. Imagine my excitement when I hear it’s finally here! XD

I got mine in 2 shades, the top one is Painted Purple and the bottom one is Tough as Taupe.
The Color Tattoo is basically a cream eyeshadow, you can use it as eyeshadow alone, or make that as eyeshadow base and then top it off with powder eyeshadow. I prefer to use it alone, because the color is so pigmented and it stays on all day!

The swatch:

Painted Purple is a matte purple color, it’s not too bright nor too dark. You purple lover should grab it fast, because it is just beautiful! While Tough as Taupe is also a matte color, the color is like 80% gray and 20% brown. Taupe (baca: toup) color is really unique IMO, it’s a neutral nude shade that can be used as your everyday wearable color, but also can be used as as a lighter version of a smokey look, . I’ll be using this color for this post, so definitely keep reading if you want to know how it looks like on my lids. :)

Okay, since I’ll be using cream eyeshadow (no fallout), let’s start with the face first!

I’m using the Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Silk Cake Powder in Sand Beige
You can click to enlarge. I love how it’s non comedogenic and also oil-free! It’s available in 5 shades, so you can find which shade matches you best. :)

Sleek packaging and it comes with sponge applicator at the bottom, separated from the powder, so it’s more hygienic.

My first impression after using this powder, I realised that the oil control is good on me. It lasts for around 5 hours before I need to touch up. The powder is also really fine, and it sits on the skin without being cakey or looks powdery. So far I’m liking this powder, I will give more detailed review later on ya.. :D

How it looks on me.. I love the matte finish this powder gave me!

Note: My skin condition has been awesome these days, I feel like I’ve finally understand what my skin really needs. I think a skincare post is on the way, what do you think? :)

After the face is finished, time for the Color Tattoo!

I’m using my finger to apply the Color Tattoo to my lids. I found it to be the easiest way to apply it. You can use brush, of course, but I feel like it’s more practical this way and also I can blend it easily! The texture of the Color Tattoo is really creamy, it feels really lightweight and really pigmented! There’s nothing sheer when it comes to this Color Tattoo. :D

This taupe color can look differently in different lighting, on warmer lighting it looks more brown, while on the cooler lighting, it looks more grey-ish. You may notice that on my FOTD below, hehe.

After that, I added eyeliner, false lashes and also fill in my brows. I also used the Maybelline Cheeky Glow in Peachy Sweetie and Baby Lips in Pink Lolita to give some color to my face. These products are fabulous as well, I will get into more details in my next post.

Here’s the finished look:
I love how it turned out! I also added the Color Tattoo on my lower lash line to give more intense smokey taupe look.
My version of Smokey Taupe eyes. It’s an alternative if you want to try smokey eyes look, but still wearable on daytime. :)

My face looks slimmer here because I pulled my hair to the front, to cover my cheeks, haha! There’s a neat trick you can try at home too.. :P

More FOTDs.. :D
